TrueScripts Hopes to be a ‘Blessing to Others’ Through Sponsorship, Participation in DCH Foundation’s 5K event

Oct 24, 2022

As TrueScripts co-owner Kevin Messmer once said, we at TrueScripts are "blessed so that we can be a blessing to others." Our TrueScripts team is blessed through the work we get to do each day in support of our members, clients, and the communities in which we work.

On Saturday, Oct. 29, TrueScripts, along with other supporting sponsors, hopes to serve as a "blessing to others" as a Zombie Sponsor of the Daviess Community Hospital (DCH) Foundation's second annual "Spud to Stud Spooktacular 5K" in our home community of Washington, Ind.

Money raised from the event will support the hospital's Intensive Care Unit and Emergency Room expansion project, which is scheduled to begin in early 2023. The project is part of DCH's larger master facility plan, which will help the hospital provide transformative care to Daviess County and the surrounding areas well into the future.

Both the DCH Foundation mission and TrueScripts mission are centered around building and strengthening relationships. Chasity Matthews, Sr. Director, Growth and Partner Relationships for Truescripts and DCH Foundation President, said the 5K is a great example of bringing those missions to life.

"Sponsoring fundraising initiatives like the Spud to Stud 5K is an awesome opportunity to support our community and our hospital. We're blessed to be so fortunate that we can give back," Chasity said. "DCH is an amazing resource for everyone in our area, and we're proud to be a sponsor of such a fun and worthwhile event!"

Several TrueScripts team members, including Clinical Care Representative Drennan Lyon, will also show their support by participating in the 5K.

Earlier this year, Drennan made a commitment to a healthier lifestyle through the company's Dream Manager program, which helps team members identify, work toward, and achieve their dreams. Training for and participating in the 5K will be a big step toward his dream.

Drennan said he has always wanted to do a 5K but "never had the guts to do it." Now, with the help of his TrueScripts team members, "I am doing it with friends alongside me."

"One of my dreams is to become a healthier individual, period," Drennan said. "I do not have to be a certain weight or size, but I know that I am doing things that are positively improving my wellbeing."

His TrueScripts family won't be the only ones there to support him, however. His wife, Jennifer, and three-year-old daughter, Blakely, will also be there to cheer him on. Being a good role model for Blakely was one of the biggest reasons Drennan wanted to participate in the 5K, he said.

"Being a healthy example for my daughter was at the top of my list," he said. "I want her to know that physical activity is something we should always do to keep us healthy."

Manager of Member Care, Jessi Morton, will also be participating with a few family members, including her eight-year-old son, Elijah, and five-year-old daughter, Isabelle. She has encouraged many of her TrueScripts team members to participate in the 5K, as well.

She said she was inspired to get involved with the event because it is a great opportunity to share the experience with family and co-workers, but it is also a way to give back to the local community.

"It's just great for team building and showing the community that we care," Jessi said. "And we're showing our children this is what you are supposed to do in life. You are supposed to help others."
